Need gifts for a variety of coffee drinkers? Or maybe you’re hosting a holiday gathering and know there will be different kinds of coffee drinkers there.
It can be challenging to know what to serve those looking for low acidity, reduced caffeine, or just “plain old coffee”, but we’re here to help. Here are a few specific kinds of coffee drinkers we get asked about regularly with our best coffee suggestions.
Low Acidity - as a specialty coffee drinker, you may value the bright acidity found in your cup but for some, the acidity in coffee can be a problem. Although all coffee has acidity, there are ways to reduce the perceived (and actual) acidity in coffee. We recommend a naturally processed coffee, since it leaves the layer of sugar on the bean intact, increasing overall sweetness as well as lessening the perceived acidity. You can also try a darker roasted coffee since certain acids in coffee do get reduced the longer you roast.
Recommended Coffees - Guatemala La Revuelta or Blossom Dark Roast
Classic Coffee Drinker - specialty coffee was built around the appreciation of lighter roasted, brighter, coffees with a wide range of flavor notes. When someone is looking for a “classic coffee”, that usually means a coffee with less brightness as well as one that has more “traditional” coffee flavoring, which generally lean toward chocolate or nutty notes. To fit that pallet, we recommend one of our washed coffees or one of our blends.
Recommended Coffees - Colombia Ederleth or Fabricator House Blend
Next Generation Coffee Drinker - younger coffee drinkers love cold brew coffee. Not just a hot weather drink, they tend to drink it year round. We’re sure a 4-pack of our Cold Brew Coffee would be a much appreciated gift or stock your fridge with a few for them to pop open at your holiday gathering—they will love it! You can also make your own cold brew using our French Press recipe (check out our post for details.) Cold brew coffee also makes a great base for holiday cocktails.
Recommended Coffees - Cold Brew Coffee (Single Can, 4-Pack, or Case) or
Colombia Zambrano (if making your own cold brew)
No Caffeine After 5pm- lots of people have sensitivity to caffeine, either stopping their caffeine intake by 5pm (or earlier) or choosing to avoid it all together. In general, the decaffeinated options on the market are limited and usually not-too-tasty. But, we have a Sugarcane Naturally Decaffeinated Coffee that will make any decaf coffee drinker ecstatic as well as please any regular coffee drinkers around your table. A multi-award winner, our Decaf Coffee is pleasantly smooth and super flavorful.
