Geisha, a “superstar” coffee plant varietal, is well known for its intense fruit flavors, tea-like characteristics, and floral bouquet. It is also known to be an ultra fussy coffee to grow, needing constant nurturing and care to bring forth all this ancient heirloom plant has to offer. Because of that, only the most skilled coffee farmers attempt to grow it.

We are always excited to hear that one of our farming partners, all of whom are exceptional farmers, has decided to showcase their growing talents with one of these demanding, but super rewarding coffees. So, when Ben was in Guatemala visiting Christian Starry last year, he was thrilled to hear that they had planted their first Geisha crop, which is now almost ready to drink.

About La Revuelta

Originally a cactus farm for natural clothing dye, La Revuelta farm has been in the Starry family since the 1800s. In 1995, under the leadership of Christian Starry and his dad, coffee became their sole focus. Under their leadership, the farm has evolved into a world class, highly regarded coffee producer. As the first farm in their region to build their own wet mill; they are dedicated to producing coffee with the highest degree of quality and integrity.

Christian (shown above), is also the founder of Truth Trading Company, an organization dedicated to helping fellow coffee farmers produce high quality coffee that is directly traded with roasters such as ourselves. With Christians help, many local farmers are now able to grow long-term, fully transparent trading relationships.
