Clementine, plum, and chocolate notes blend together perfectly in this exceptional coffee from the ACODIHUE (say Ah-ki-dee-hue) cooperative, located in the mountains of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. We first tasted this coffee last spring when our friend, Christian Starry, founder of Truth Trading Company, brought a sample to our roastery. Vibrant, citrusy notes is what distinguished this coffee at the cupping table so much so that we knew it needed to be included in our lineup.
Truth Trading Company was formed by two specialty coffee producers in Guatemala with the goal of helping producers and buyers obtain better pricing through 100 % transparent negotiations. Their work to connect farmers directly to roasters enables us to have access to coffee that is both exceptional as well as sustainably grown. Truth Trading Company represents a variety of Guatemalan farms including the ACODIHUE cooperative.
Asociacion de Cooperacion al Desarrollo Integral de Huehuetenango (ACODIHUE), a well established cooperative in the mountains of Cuchumatanes, is a collection of farmers dedicated to producing high-cupping coffees. Formed as an advocate for enterpreneurs, ACODIHUE provides financial infrasructure, business resources, and quality development programs to their many members which now includes over 800 women-owned farms. They also run a youth entreprenuerial program to encourage next generation interest in coffee farming.
We are incredibly proud to be offering this coffee and know it will be the perfect cup for these crisp, sweater-weather days ahead.
