Mango, Cascara, Raisin, Nectarine
Café Rivense del Chirripó is a family micromill founded by Régulo Ureña and Isabel Rojas in 2005, located in southern part of Costa Rica, in Brunca region nestled in a micro-region called Chirripó. The Finca El Mango microlot, located on the farm, is an exceptionally special lot since last year it earned placement in the Top Ten Cup of Excellence in Costa Rica—a first for the family and the Chirripó Region!
It is also a special coffee for us since our green coffee buyer, Ben Turiano, just returned from spending a week long vacation on the farm with his wife and 5 year old daughter. Being able to spend time learning about the farm and see the passion and care of the Ureña first hand has truly endeared this family and their coffee to our hearts.
Finca El Mango, named for the two mango trees located on the farm which is extremely rare at this altitude; is located on the southeast side of the mountain giving it a very different cup profile then its sister farm, Finca Las Torres, also owned by the Ureña family.
Mango, raisin, nectarine, and cascara are most prominent in this coffees profile. A full honey processed coffee, it is naturally sweet and full-bodied.
